June 7, 2009 TFA and Todd Meacham Promotions brought a rocking spectacle of mixed martial arts to the HAX - Hangar Athletic Exchange in Hawthorne, CA on Saturday June 6, 2009.

A packed house witnessed the best in SOCAL mma.

Featherweights Carlos Garces and Ulisis Figueroa battled back and forth for three hard rounds in what can only be considered a slugfest. The judges awarded a unanimous decision to Carlos Garces.

Brazillian Roberto Amorim was a last minute replacement who left a lasting impression in a one punch knockout over Adam "Hoss" Allison in a fight that only lasted 15 seconds.

Johnny Mercurio continued the quick finishes with a furious attack that started with a huge kick followed by a monstrous strike that dropped Greg Gagnon. Relentless ground and pound forced a quick referee stoppage in the first round.

Nick Willert took Isaac Gutierrez down quickly. Gutierrez escaped only to be caught in a guillotine choke by Willert that forced Gutierrez to tap before the end of the first round.

Marcus Kowal's fans were not disappointed. They saw a brawl between Kowal and David Ghobrial. The first round was a back and forth slugfest that seemed like it could end with whoever got caught by a big punch first. In the second round it ended up being Kowal's straight kick to the gut of Ghobrial that put Ghobrial on the mat. Kowal jumped at the chance to finished the fight with a ground and pound fury that caused the referee to award Kowal the tko victory in his mma debut.

Diego Bautista and Anthony Smith demonstrated they are two warriors in a three round battle that ended in a unanimous decision for Bautista. Bautista impressed with big slam take downs and strong punching combinations that were matched at times by Smith.

In the final fight of the evening, it looked like Aaron Birn was going to make it another quick one with some quick strikes that stunned Eddie Mendez but Mendez recovered by wrestling Birn agains the cage and taking him down. Then Mendez avoided the triangle attempt by Birn. In the second round, Mendez wrestled his way to a rear-naked choke victory.

TFA would like to thank all of the fans who attended the satisfying event. Todd Meacham Promotions and TFA proved that they showcase the best mma in LA.

April 25, 2008

Todd Meacham brought his signature brand of in-your-face MMA back to southern California with a intimate event at HAX - Hangar Athletic Exchange in Hawthorne, CA. on April 25, 2009. Over a thousand people attended the event including World Champion Randy Couture who sat cage side along with other mma legends Maverick and Judo Gene Lebell, The God Father of Grappling- who served as a judge. TFA favorite- Toby Grear served as the evening's announcer.

Sixteen pro fighters proved their worth in eight great fights showcasing many different styles and techniques everyone expects from pro mixed-martial-arts.

Tyler Weathers smothered Jeff Martin with pure wrestling skill to win the 135 Bantamweight Championship title fight. In the second round, Weathers dropped Martin with a huge strike to the face but Martin quickly recovered and pushed the fight to a five round decision that ended in favor of Weathers. The victory was part of a dominating night from the Tracy Hess camp where his fighters had four combined victories.

Jose Morales proved that a record of 0-2 coming in to the fight does not mean anything. Morales caught Walter Pinto in a deep triangle in the first round beginning a great night of fights.

Greg Gagnon said it would be a war with Anthony Smith and he delivered on the promise with a strong take down and powerful kicks. Smith came back at him with great knees, over-hand rights that brought the crowd to their feet, and a few grand takedowns as well. In the end of three, the split-decision was awarded to Anthony Smith.

Matt Bahntge demonstrated to be too big a test for energetic fighter David Jalbert. Bahntge's relentless unorthodox style was on full view as a sick shoulder lock caused Jalbert to tap.

Many considered the best fighter match-up of the night to be a war between Issac Guterrez and Vance Bejarano that went the three round distance for one reason- Bejarano's heart. Guterrez is a incredible fighter who put on a great show dropping Vance in the first round and then keeping up a relentless fury of ground and pound throughout the fight. Guterrez won by unanimous decision.

Maverick fighter Aaron Birn used great strategy to frustrate Deshalen Barber in Barber's pro debut. Birn fought off a deep guillotine choke attempt by Barber and contined to take down Barber again and again. The fight ended with Birn mounting Barber. Birn won the fight by split-decision.

Diego Bautista came in to the cage after a win at Cage of Fire two weeks ago and proved he had no rail rust in his fight with Cordero. Loud chants from both sides of the arena for both fighters stirred these great mma artists. Cordero brilliantly mounted Bautista in the first round but Bautista used the cage to his advantage to get out of the scary position. In the second round, Bautista mounted corder and then rained down punches forcing a TKO stoppage by the referee. Bautista proved he is one to watch.

The night was ended with a huge battle at 205 between Adam Allison and Brandon Michels where Michels toughness caused the fight to go the distance. Michel's takedowns and strength won him the first round and kept him in the fight. He never stopped even though Allison's striking was very impressive- dropping Michels hard in the 3rd round and continuing to pound his way to a win that is sure to wake up the 205 pound weight class.

2009 is finally off and running for Todd Meacham and TFA, southern California's consistent champion of mixed marital arts. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting all of these great athletes and all the work it takes to get in the cage. The successful event was fully sanctioned and ran by the California State Athletic Commission.

Come back soon for pictures, video and other media of the fights.
